Recurring Pest Control Plans in Columbus, OH

Recurring pest control in Columbus, OH means we come back on a set schedule, biweekly, monthly, bimonthly or as needed, to treat what returns and stop what is trying to move in. Boydes Exterminating Co sets the interval by the pest and the property, not by a one-size calendar.

Some problems end after a visit or two. Others keep coming back because the building, the neighbors or the season keep sending them. This page compares the schedules so you can pick one that matches your problem. For a broader look at what we do, see our page on pest control in Columbus.

How often do you come back on a recurring plan?

We match the schedule to the pest and the building. Here is how the options usually line up:

Recurring pest control schedules compared
ScheduleFits best whenWhat it is for
BiweeklyAn active infestation is being brought down, or a food business needs close monitoringCatching what hatches and reappears between treatments
MonthlyRestaurants, hotels, rentals and homes with a repeat problemSteady control and a dated record of conditions
BimonthlyHomes with a history of ants, spiders or occasional roachesMaintenance once the heavy activity has stopped
As neededHomes that only see pests in certain seasonsVisits triggered by sightings or by the calendar

A schedule sets the interval, then changes as activity changes.

We adjust the interval as activity changes. If a year's worth of visits turns up nothing, we say so and stretch the schedule.

What does each recurring visit include?

Every visit starts with your report: what you have seen since last time. Then we check the usual spots, such as the kitchen, bathrooms, entry doors, garage and foundation, and compare them with the notes from earlier visits. We apply treatment where it is needed and skip it where it is not.

Work can include a perimeter treatment, which is a band of product around the outside of the building, and crack and crevice work in the voids and corners inside. We also look for the reasons pests are there, like a leaky trap, a gap under a door or food left out. At each visit we ask about allergies, kids and pets again, because the answers change.

How does a recurring plan run from the first visit to year one?

  1. We walk the whole propertyThe first visit covers the inside and the outside, and we write down what we find so later visits have something to compare against.
  2. We choose the intervalBiweekly, monthly, bimonthly or as needed, picked by the pest and the building. We explain the price before the plan starts.
  3. Each visit opens with your reportYou tell us what you saw since last time, and we ask about allergies, kids and pets again.
  4. We treat the cause and the symptomProduct goes where it is needed, per the label, and we point out the gap, the leak or the food source that invited the pests.
  5. We review and adjustQuiet months let us stretch the interval. New activity moves it back, and you hear about the change before it happens.

Do I need monthly service or just seasonal?

Seasonal can be enough for a house with a quiet history. Spring brings ants and spiders, summer brings flies, wasps and fleas, and fall pushes mice toward warm foundations. A visit timed to each change can cover most of it.

Monthly or biweekly makes sense when pests are in the structure itself. That is typical for shared-wall buildings, where roaches travel between units, and for any kitchen that handles food for the public. If you are comparing a quarterly plan from another company, ask what happens in the months between visits.

Is quarterly pest control enough in Columbus?

Quarterly visits are a common default across the industry, and they can suit a house with a quiet history. Our closest fit is bimonthly, which puts a technician at your property six times a year instead of four. Compare the first-year total, not the price of one visit, and ask what happens when pests appear between visits.

Why recurring service works better than waiting for a problem

  • Egg cycles: roaches, fleas and some ants hatch after the first treatment, so one visit rarely ends the job
  • Early detection: a technician who knows your building notices the new gap or the damp corner before it becomes an infestation
  • A paper trail: dated notes protect property managers and food businesses if a complaint arrives
  • Fewer emergencies: small fixes cost less than a full treatment after a problem has spread

Columbus makes that last point matter. Orkin ranked the city No. 11 for bed bugs in 2024 and No. 15 for rats in 2026, and around 56% of homes are rented (ACS 2019-23). Shared walls and busy streets keep pests in circulation.

Shared walls keep pests in circulation, which is why monthly visits suit some buildings.

Can I switch to as-needed visits later?

Yes. Plans are meant to follow the problem. When activity stops, we talk about stretching the interval or moving to as-needed visits. If something returns, we move back. You hear the price and any terms before you agree to a change.

If you only want a single visit, our page on one-time pest control explains which problems fit that approach.

What does a recurring plan not cover?

A plan is built around general pests such as ants, roaches, spiders, silverfish and rodents. Some jobs sit outside it, and we say so up front. Bed bugs follow their own course of treatment, usually 4 to 6 weeks for a residual job. Termites need a separate inspection and treatment, covered on our termite treatment page. Holes in the building envelope need pest exclusion, because no spray fixes a gap.

Pricing depends on the type and extent of the problem, the size of the property and how often we visit. We explain it before work starts.

Recurring service in Ohio: the pesticide record rule and the three-day cancel right

Ohio Administrative Code rule 901:5-11-10 requires a commercial applicator to create a record on the date of each application, including the product's brand name and EPA registration number. The employer must keep those records for three years. On a recurring plan, that means every visit leaves a paper trail. Ask to see it.

Ohio's Attorney General also notes that a sale of $25 or more agreed in person at your home can be canceled until midnight of the third business day. Read any plan contract for its term, its renewal and what the price includes. Then confirm the company is in ODA's public pesticide business search.

Recurring Pest Control Plans: common questions

How often do you come back on a recurring plan?

Biweekly, monthly, bimonthly or as needed, depending on the pest and the property. Active infestations and food businesses tend toward the shorter intervals. Homes with a quiet history do fine with longer ones. We set the first interval after we see the place, then change it when activity changes.

Do I need monthly service or just seasonal?

Many homes do fine with seasonal visits timed to spring ants, summer wasps and fall mice. Monthly makes sense for shared-wall buildings, repeat roach or rodent trouble, and any business that serves food. Tell us what you have seen and when, and we will recommend the lightest schedule that holds.

Can I switch to as-needed visits later?

Yes. When activity stops we talk about longer intervals or as-needed visits, and if pests return we can tighten the schedule again. Any change comes with the price and terms explained first. Plans are supposed to follow the problem, not lock you into a calendar you no longer need.

What if I see pests between scheduled visits?

Call us. A recurring plan is not meant to make you wait for the next date. Tell us what you saw and where, and we will say whether it can be handled at the next visit or deserves a trip sooner. Same-day visits happen when the schedule allows.

Is recurring pest control worth it for a house?

It depends on the house. A tight, dry home with no history may need only an occasional visit. One with mice every fall, roaches from a neighbor or ants every spring usually saves money and hassle with scheduled visits. We will tell you honestly if you do not need one.
