We cannot promise the same afternoon. We can tell you honestly, on the phone, whether today is likely, what tomorrow looks like, and how to stay clear of the nest in the meantime.
When is a wasp or hornet nest an emergency?
A nest becomes urgent when people have to pass it, when it sits where stings are likely or when someone nearby reacts badly to stings. Many nests high on a shed or in a far corner of the yard can wait for the next opening. These cannot:
- A nest by the front door, on a porch ceiling or beside a garage entry that people use every day
- A nest within a few feet of a play area, a patio table or a mailbox
- Any nest near a person with a known sting allergy
- Wasps entering the house through a wall, vent or window frame
- A ground nest in a lawn that a mower or children could disturb

Our post on what to do when you find a hornet nest and the one on urgent yellow jacket ground nests go through the early steps if you are deciding how urgent yours is.
Can you do emergency wasp removal the same day I call?
Sometimes. Same-day nest visits happen when the schedule allows, and customers mention them in reviews. They depend on how many calls came in ahead of yours, where the earlier jobs are and how far we are from you. The shop is on Dunning Rd on the northeast side of Columbus, so the east side and nearby suburbs are the shortest drives.
Nest calls have a clock on them. Our hours run Monday to Thursday 8 am to 7 pm, Friday 8 am to 6 pm and Saturday 10 am to 5 pm. We are closed Sunday. A call at 9 am on a weekday has far more room in the day than one at 5:30. When today does not fit, we offer the next opening, and customers have described next-day hornet visits.
If the nest is a danger, say so when you call. Tell us where it is, how big it looks and whether anyone has been stung or is allergic.
Nest at the front door?
Call as early as you can and tell us where it is. If anyone is allergic, say that first.

Calling is fastest. The form comes to the same desk, and we call you back during business hours.
Call (209) 563-1650What if someone in my home is allergic to wasps?
Keep that person inside and away from the nest, and tell us the moment you call. A sting allergy changes the priority and the way we work. If the person has been stung and has trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, dizziness or a spreading rash, call 911. Pest control does not replace medical care.
Allergic households often carry prescribed medication, and that is a decision for them and their doctor. What we can do is treat the call as urgent and take the allergy into account when we plan the visit. We ask about allergies, pets and children at every visit, and nest calls are no exception.

What should you tell us about the nest before we arrive?
A nest is easier to judge from details than from the word urgent. These answers decide the priority and the gear we bring.
- How far the nest sits from a door, a walkway or a place where children play
- How high it is, and whether we need a ladder to reach it
- What it looks like: gray umbrella, gray ball, or only a hole with traffic
- How busy it is, and whether insects are heading indoors
- Whether anyone in the home has been stung, or has a sting allergy
What to leave alone
Do not hose, knock down, spray or plug a nest. A disturbed colony defends itself, and a blocked entrance sends wasps looking for another way out, sometimes into the house. Stay a safe distance away and take your photo with the zoom.
What to expect afterward
Some wasps keep returning to the old spot for a day or two. Stay away from that area until the label's re-entry time passes, then tell us if the traffic continues.
Wasps in the house: what is an emergency and what is not?
One wasp in the living room is usually a straggler that came through a door. A steady stream of wasps in the same room, or a buzzing sound inside a wall, means a nest in a wall void, attic or soffit with a route into the house. That is urgent.
- Close the door to the room and keep children and pets out of it
- Do not swat or crowd the wasps, since a threatened wasp stings
- Watch where they come in, such as a light fixture, vent or window frame, and note the time
- Do not plug the opening. Wasps will often chew another way in, sometimes deeper into the house
- Call us with that information, and photograph the entry point from across the room if you can

Wasp, hornet, yellow jacket or bee: what are we removing?
Different insects need different handling, and identifying the insect comes first. A photo from a distance helps.
| Insect | Nest | Where it shows up | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper wasp | Gray, open-celled umbrella shape | Eaves, porch ceilings, door frames, railings | Small colonies that tolerate nearby activity until bumped |
| Bald-faced hornet | Large gray paper ball, grows over summer | Trees, shrubs, gables, high eaves | Defends the nest hard, so stay far away |
| Yellow jacket | Paper nest hidden underground or in a wall void | Lawns, banks, voids in siding or soffits | Often discovered by stepping or mowing on it |
| Honey bee | Wax comb in a wall, tree hollow or attic | Chimneys, wall cavities, hollow trees | Often better handled by a beekeeper who can relocate the colony |
Bees are the exception to the removal plan. If the insects look like honey bees, tell us. We will say whether it is a swarm, a settled colony or something else, and what fits.
What happens during a nest removal visit?
- We confirm the insect and the nestPhotos or a quick look tell us the species, the size and how many entry points we are dealing with.
- We ask about allergies, pets and childrenAnyone with a sting allergy, plus the pets and kids, affects where people should stay during the work.
- We suit up and approachTechnicians wear ventilated protective suits with veils and gloves, and the work goes by the product label.
- We treat and remove the nestAerial nests are treated and taken down where possible. Wall and ground nests are treated at the entrance and the void, and we check for other entry points.
- We tell you what to expectSome wasps return to the spot for a day or two. You get the re-entry time from the label and advice on when to check back.

What does same-day nest removal cost?
Pricing depends on the type of insect and the extent of the nest. We explain it before work starts. These are the factors:
- Species, since hornets and yellow jackets take more caution than paper wasps
- Height and access, because a nest at a second-story gable needs more equipment than one over a doorway
- Location, such as in a wall void, soffit, ground or open air
- Number of nests, as colonies often build more than one on a property
- Whether a return visit is needed to check for activity
If you want to know whether a same-day or rush visit changes the price, ask when you call. Reviews call our pricing fair and report no surprise charges at the end. Businesses with a nest at an entrance can read our page on commercial pest emergencies.

Nest removal for hire in Ohio: the ODA license rule and product label limits
Treating a stinging insect nest with a pesticide for hire falls under Ohio's pesticide business rules. ODA requires a Pesticide Business License and at least one licensed commercial applicator, and its public business search lets you check a company before it climbs the ladder. Take the minute to look, even when the nest is by your door.
If you treat the nest yourself, the product label is federal law. It names the sites where the product may be used and the protective clothing to wear. A can bought at a hardware store is no exception, and a use the label does not list is not allowed. Whoever does the work, ask for the product name and the re-entry time, and ask who handles a nest in a wall void or ground nest, since those take a different approach.

Same-Day Wasp & Hornet Nest Removal: common questions
Someone in my home is allergic. How fast can you come?
We cannot promise a time, but an allergy makes the call urgent, and same-day is possible when the schedule allows. Tell us when you call. If the allergic person has been stung and has trouble breathing, swelling or dizziness, call 911 first. Keep them indoors and away from the nest until we arrive.
What should I do while I wait for the nest visit?
Stay a safe distance from the nest, keep children and pets away and do not knock it down, spray it or block its opening. Wasps will chew another way in. Take a photo from far off and note where the nest is. If wasps are inside, close that room's door.
Can you come the same day I call?
Sometimes. Timing turns on the schedule, how many urgent calls come before yours and the drive from our Dunning Rd shop. Calling in the morning leaves more of the day. If we cannot reach you today, we offer the next opening, and customers have described next-day hornet visits.
Is it a wasp, a hornet or a yellow jacket?
The nest shape helps. Gray umbrella nests under eaves are paper wasps, large gray balls in trees or gables are bald-faced hornets, and yellow jackets nest underground or in wall voids. Send a photo from a distance if you can. We confirm the insect on arrival, since the approach differs.
Do you remove bee colonies?
We identify the insect first. Honey bees are often better handled by a beekeeper who can relocate the colony, while wasps and hornets are what we treat. If you are not sure which you have, describe the insects and the nest, and send a photo from a distance. We will tell you what fits.
Will wasps come back after the nest is removed?
A few may return to the old spot for a day or two. New colonies can start on the same eave the next season, since wasps favor sheltered spots. Sealing small gaps in soffits and trim helps. A nest does not get reused, and the colony dies off after hard frosts.

Rob is a great find. Today was the second time he came out because I found two more yellow jacket nests. One in the ground and one at the foundation of the house. He came out the same day I called.
Great service. Super dependable. Calls right back. This time he was able to come out same day.
Had a large hornets nest in a tree in front of my home. They knew exactly what type it was with just a description and explained how they would remove the nest.
